Visitors are responsible for his/her visa and passport applications needed to enter China. You can apply for a Chinese visa through a travel agency or directly at the nearest Chinese embassy. There are two types of visa you may apply, Visa L and Visa F.

Visa L: tourist visa, for sight-seeing, family visiting or other personal affairs. Generally you don't need an invitation letter for this application.

Visa F: Business visa, for business, research, lecture, science and technology exchange visits on invitation and short-term training and internship of less than six months. For this application, an invitation letter from the host organization is required.
